Dylan Lupton Guts Out 15th Place Finish in Iowa

NEWTON, IOWA (June 26, 2017) – After three straight weeks of going to race tracks for the first time, Dylan Lupton finally returned to a track that he had previously raced on. A wild race featuring varying strategies would see the Wilton, California native steer his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota to a solid 15th-place finish in the running of the American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night.

“We fought through another weekend filled with adversity,” said Lupton. “We blew a motor early in the second practice which put us behind the 8 ball. We struggled with the handling of our No. 24 Nut Up Toyota as we were really loose in and tight off the corner. Clinton (Cram, crew chief) and the rest of the No. 24 JGL crew never gave up and with great pit strategy, we were in contention for a good finish. Shoot, if it we didn’t have that caution with about 30 laps to go, we would have had a chance to win the race. I wish we could have gotten a few more laps there at the end so that we could get a top-10 finish.

Dylan would start the 250-lap event from the 28th position as a result of his qualifying effort. In the early stages of the race Dylan would report that his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota was just too loose as it was during his qualifying runs earlier in the day. An early trip down pit road in the middle portion of the first stage allowed for the JGL Racing crew to make some adjustments. Back to racing, the early adjustments did not seem to help Dylan and he would ultimately go down a lap to the leaders just as the first stage concluded.

An early caution in the second stage allowed for Lupton to receive the Lucky Dog award and return back to the lead lap. With Dylan reporting that his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota was getting a little better he would manage through the final laps of the second stage and sit in the 23rd spot at its conclusion.

The second half of the race would see some additional adjustments bring the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota to life. Along with some great pit strategy by Clinton Cram (crew chief), Lupton would be in a position to go the distance on fuel with the majority of the field still requiring one more stop. A long green flag run played right into this strategy before a late caution came out with 30 laps remaining. The No. 24 Nut Up Toyota would restart as the leader but would fall back behind cars who had pitted for tires. With another late caution, Lupton would give up track position to come down pit road to put on scuff tires but with less laps that what he currently had on his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota. The closing laps saw Dylan pick up valuable positions and come home with an exciting 15th place finish when the checkered flag flew.

“I am happy with our result considering the struggles we had to fight through,” added Dylan. “A big thanks to Nut Up Industries for all the support, and the JGL crew for all their hard work.”

JGL Racing team will next head to Daytona International Speedway for the running of the Coca-Cola Firecracker 250. The 15th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday June 30th and can be seen LIVE on NBCSN at 7:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.

Also it has allowed me and Clinton (Cram, crew chief) to build chemistry and he now knows what I want as a driver.”

Dylan Lupton Gains Valuable Experience Despite Disappointing Result in Michigan

BROOKLYN, MI. (June 19, 2017) – For the third consecutive week, Dylan Lupton ventured to a race track that he had never seen before. While the Wilton, California native gained valuable experience in his first visit to Michigan International Speedway, he was none too happy as he brought home his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota to a disappointing 24th place finish in the running of the Irish Hills 250.

“Today was a frustrating finish to the race that doesn’t paint the whole picture,” said Lupton. “We fought through some adversity all day but the guys on this JGL Racing team never gave up. On that last restart I just got wrecking loose for some reason and for the second week in a row freight trained coming to the white flag. I hate it for everyone on this JGL Racing team and the Nut Up folks. The good news is we get to come back next week in Iowa – a track that I have raced on a few times already in my career.”

Dylan would start the 250-mile event from the 30th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier Saturday morning. Lupton would adapt to the new track and slowly move forward in the field. The No. 24 Nut Up Toyota would be in the 25th
position at the end of the first stage.

The second stage would begin with the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota receiving rear end damage after being hit from behind as everyone tried to avoid an accident on the back stretch. While the damage was repaired by the JGL Racing crew, Dylan would report he was loose when he was racing inside of another car. The second stage would end under caution with Lupton breaking into the top-20.

The second half of the 125-lap event would see the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota remain around the top-20 as Dylan continued with the learning process. Despite dealing with a tight condition in the center of the corner and through exit, Lupton would sit inside the top-20 leading into a green-white-checkered finish. A wild restart and two lap shootout would result in the loss of valuable spots to the field and the disappointing 24th place finish.

“For the second week in a row I have had a disappointing finish to a race,” added Dylan. “We definitely had speed in the car and it is just a matter of time that we get the finishes we deserve.”

Lupton and his JGL Racing team will next head to Iowa Speedway for the running of the American Ethanol E15 250. The 14th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday June 24th and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports1 at 8:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.

Lupton at Michigan International Speedway:
For the third week in a row, Dylan will be making his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series start at a track as he heads to Michigan International Speedway. The start will mark Lupton’s 14th career start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.

Dylan’s Thoughts on Michigan International Speedway:
“I am really excited to get back into the car this weekend at Michigan, since this wasn’t originally a race on my schedule. I really enjoy fast and wide tracks, where you have a ton of line options through the corners to run your car, so I am looking to rebound from Dover and Pocono and get the No. 24 Nut Up Industries Camry a great finish here. Dakoda (Armstrong) has been very helpful this year, especially at the last few tracks I have never been to, so I will be again leaning on my teammate for advice and tips throughout the weekend.”

Dylan will be joining other NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers in an Autograph Session on Friday at Michigan International Speedway. The event will be held from 11:00 – 11:45 am at the Hospitality Village at the track.

Dylan’s Thoughts on Pocono Raceway:
“After a rough race weekend at Dover, I am very eager to jump back into the No. 24 Nut Up Industries Toyota Camry at Pocono. I learned valuable information last week that can be applied throughout the rest of the year. This will again be a new racetrack for me so there will be another learning curve, however I am very excited to race at the Tricky Triangle.”

“I have been talking with Dakoda (Armstrong) on what to expect and what to look for this upcoming weekend. I believe Pocono will suit my driving style, so I am expecting a great run for our No. 24 JGL Racing team. We are very excited to have Nut Up Industries on the race car again this weekend, and I am looking forward to meeting fans throughout the race weekend – with details to follow later.”
